In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.
- Anne Frank
I started doing this project 15 years ago when I lived in the Mission in San Francisco. You just buy a bunch of new black socks and stuff them with useful things like hand sanitizer or foot powder or an energy bar and give them away to folks you see in your day to day travels who want and need socks.
A clean pair of socks can seriously change someone's life for a week. It's about walking and comfort and getting around and if you are living on the street, you are migrating from place to place and you don't take your socks off when you go to sleep.
Giving out socks is a simple, micro gesture of kindness that anyone can do.
